A Single Flame... (2005-11-17 - 5:32 a.m.)
I realize that part of my writing is to express myself in poetry. This is a poem I wrote to my husband. I call it: A Single Flame There was a dark shell about them except for a single flame The flame was reaching out to entice them towards its center A spiral of words, glowing embers of a reluctance to admit to their own feelings The continuation of the enchantment of all its familiarity A hand, hesitant, reaching toward the light, feels its warmth The wanting to become apart of the burning desire of the flames, a kindred heat, a consuming passion. The needing to become apart of the heat, the flames rise up into the night sky As the sparks fly upward, surrending to the tongue of fire as it licks after them To feel the tongue of the flame upon oneself Reaching out to share the feeling with another The feeling of another spark to kindle the conflagration To let go and to join in the heat of the flames A release which races from her fingertips and resides on her lips The feelings to be shared together in the flame of passion and reborn in each other's eyes She reaches inward and then turns to him with acceptance in her eyes, and he affirms her gifts with his own Each knowing that the other is their fire, burning but not consumed The fires of their souls adding to the other, the realization that one can not be without the other The needing to be in the heat of each other's passion, they smile knowingly across the fire, a light bursting forth from this union, writing a signature flash across their skies The flame of forever... The flame everlasting... The flame enduring... The flame of eternity... Whose name is the juncture of their union and the allusion of their souls And still a flame which burns in the moist elation of where all life began To be mirrored forever in the everlasting flames Do we see in each other... The flame within each soul... The trinity of you and I and Us A part and apart. ~The End~
